Tight Budget Tiny Kitchen and No Time How to Eat Well in Your First Apartment eBook Angie Ballard

Angie Ballard's "Tight Budget, Tiny Kitchen, and No Time: How to Eat Well in Your First Apartment" is a wonderful cookbook I'm glad to have in my collection. There are so many great ideas in it about living on a budget, saving money, what to have when setting up your first kitchen, and how to shop for staples.

The recipes are delicious! My family eats a lot of beans, but I'd never thought about cooking big batches in the crockpot and freezing them until I tried her recipe; it's the only way to do it now. Trying the crockpot baked potatoes is next on my list. One of my favs has to be the 3-ingredient peanut butter cookies. OMG are they good!

When and if my three children ever move out, I'll definitely give them copy of this book. Their own, 'cuz I'm keeping mine. :)

Tight Budget Tiny Kitchen and No Time How to Eat Well in Your First Apartment eBook Angie Ballard Reviews

This really is not just for young adults. People of a certain age, like myself, will also benefit from this. Angie has taken all the guess work out of starting a kitchen or down-sizing your kitchen. The recipts alone are worth the price of the book. Everyone should own this. Christmas is coming up. Perfect for friends, relatives and neighbors!
A long time ago in a country far, far away, (England, to be exact,) I was just starting out and I had two cookery books, 'The Pauper's Cookbook' and 'Cooking in a Bedsitter'. They were perfect, for my student poverty and my greedy appetite and neither of them are available now.

This book will take their place. It's not just a cookery book, It's a shopping guide and a lifestyle guide and it's full of warm, sensible advice, presented in a palatable way. It makes penny-pinching into a kind of adventure, where you can play the game and win, keeping the wolf from the door with simple, tasty, heartwarming recipes.

If you're a new couple, or a student, or a change in your life means you're counting your change, you'd do well to buy this book. If your bunnies are leaving for college, this would b e a thoughtful gift, along with a stock pot and some basil seeds.
Tight Budget, Tiny Kitchen, and No Time How to Eat Well in Your First Apartment by Angie Ballard is a long title, but quite appropriate for this book. This is a great resource, not only for students or young married couples just starting out, but also for anyone who appreciates frugality, timely advice and great-tasting, money-saving recipes. It is practical and timely. I especially like her advice that "not a single one of these things need to match" (referring to dishes, glasses and silverware) and that most of the appliances don't "need to be new." There are sections for Freezer Cooking and Shopping Techniques (I even learned a few things despite the fact that I've been married and living on my own for 30 years!)

My favorite part of this book is the section with all the wonderful recipes (including vegetarian) for main dishes, side dishes, salads and desserts.

The author also includes a section with a Master List for groceries, which is perfect for the newly married couple (or college students) to print out and take to the grocery store.

An index at the back of the book makes it easy to find any topic or recipe in the book.

Thank you, Angie, for creating this wonderful book with great recipes and timely advice!

Highly recommend!
UPDATE I returned the book as the book contained few recipes and had errors. In particular there was recipe cooking a chicken at 250 degrees F, if I remember right. I do not have access to the cookbook as it was returned. Cooking chicken at such a low temperature is not a method I would recommend. Check the USDA website for safe poultry cooking and handling methods..

I purchased Tight Budget Tiny Kitchen, and No Time How to Eat Well In Your First Apartment as I figured I'd loan the cookbook to my adult kids who have moved out to their own apartments. I was unable to view a single recipe as the sample does not show any recipes.

After purchasing the book, I clicked on the link taking me to the Vegetarian chapter of the book. I discovered Vegetarian recipes use bacon or chicken broth. Not all the vegetarian recipes contain these ingredients but the two I've found so far do

Potato and Egg Burritos (suggests using bacon and to be fair the author says the recipe is more of a technique)
Potato Soup (uses chicken broth)

Anyone who has chosen the vegetarian lifestyle knows you are not supposed to eat bacon or chicken broth. Some vegetarians will eat cheese and eggs but not chicken broth.

Some of the recipes I found in Angie Ballard's cookbook include

Beef Roast
White Chili
Ham, Eggs and Hominy
Farfalle with Ham and Peas
Tuna Melts
End of Summer Salad
Cinnamon Rolls
Cake Mix Cookies (uses soft butter instead of vegetable oil)

I like her writing and I like her tips. If you are just starting out, and need to learn how cook frugally, you'll like her cookbook.

Recommend with caveats given.
This cute book is full of helpful information for everybody - from those just setting up housekeeping to those who've been at it for years and are trying to save a buck. There are lots of easy-to-use, realistic tips. And the recipes are both easy enough for beginners and delicious enough to make the veteran cook proud. Great value!
What a fun and helpful book! Everyone can benefit from reading it not just young adults starting out. It is simple and yet has everything one might think of to get set up in a kitchen, even encouraging words for the reluctant chef. I highly recommend this awesome book!
nice book but very short. I did enjoy the recipes though I have not gotten to try any of them yet. The author obviously knows how to cook so I am sure any recipe I try will be really good. I would recommend this book, the price isn't bad and the content is great, like I said, it is just a very short book...but it is packed with goodness.
